Just a Short Quote

Today's blog is just a short quote from our One Month to Live book to think about throughout the day.

Tim Hansel says "Pain is inevitable, but misery is optional. We cannot avoid pain, but we can avoid joy."

No matter what you face throughout this day, just remember to face it with the right perspective. You may face difficulties today, but you can face them with the right attitude. An attitude of joy.

Nehemiah 8:10 "The joy of the Lord is our strength."

You have no idea how much I needed this today!
It calls to mind James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you KNOW (emphasis mine) that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
This is one of the reasons why James is one of my favorite books of the Bible - it's chock-full of numerous spiritual nuggets that speak right to my heart. With regards to the above referenced verses, perhaps it's because there are so many trials and tribulations that can really get the best of me if I don't stay on my toes! However, at least I didn't have to put up with my house getting T-P'd last night like one of my unfortunate neighbors.
Short and sweet but just what the doctor ordered for today! Thanks, Padre!

Are they really life-threatening? We had a member of our lifegroup state "if it won't kill me, why should I worry." Of course I told him if we know Christ even death should not worry us. If we face the trial with a negative attitude and try to overcome by ourselves it could be a mountain. But if we "consider it pure joy" and allow God to work with us and in us through the trial, we not only overcome the "mole hill" but we have a great lesson in building our faith. Although Pastor got his home T-P'd, I heard he got the last laugh!

Open the eyes of my heart Lord would be my payer. Help me to see through my fathers eyes. Seems like my flesh is my biggest mountain, my biggest target for satan. I’m a very positive person but, you can only get so far before you got to give it to the Lord. Help me see all the good in people; we can’t do it alone so why do we keep trying to? Lord I surrender all. Surrendering all needs to be an every day occurrence. Lay it at the cross, give everything to God, learn to seek God first in all that we do, and everything else will be given to us. Thank you Jesus for the good things and what we see as bad, because it all happens for a reason. How we see or how God see’s. How do you want to see?
