Wisdom is Better

Check out this scripture in Proverbs. It's chapter 24 and verse 5. "A wise man is mightier than a strong man. Wisdom is mightier than strength."

Wisdom is a very powerful thing. The Bible tells us it's better to have wisdom than any other gift. It better to be wise than strong or talented. It's better to be wise than to have a great personality or be a good leader. Wisdom is just better. If you have wisdom the other stuff will come. If you don't have wisdom you may have the other stuff, but you will eventually lose it for lack of wisdom.

We all need more wisdom. So how do we get it. That is simple but not necessarily easy. There are a several of ways.

First we just ask God. The Bible tells us in James that "if any man lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all, without finding fault." If you need wisdom in an area of your life today. Start by praying and asking God for wisdom.

Another way is to ask God's word. God's word is filled with wisdom for our daily lives. When we are faced with situations that require wisdom we can seek it out in God's word. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) that "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right."

Finally we can get wisdom by asking others. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:15 that "The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice." And in Proverbs 19:20 it tells us to "Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise."

What areas of your life do you need wisdom today? Have you asked God, asked is word, and asked other people?
