Alot More Action

Words are powerful, we all know that. The Bible tells us in Proverbs that "the tongue has the power of life and death." That is pretty powerful, but there is something that is even more powerful than words. That is action.

We do alot of talking don't we? Sometimes we talk a big talk, but we don't really follow through. I know I am guilty of it. Sometimes I can talk things to death and never do anything about what I was talking about. If we are honest with ourselves we could probably all admit that.

The truth is God is much more concerned with our living than our talking. I love this verse in
I Corinthians 4:20 (LB) it says "The Kingdom of God is not just talking it is living by God's power." I think what God is trying to say to us is kind of like the old song. Let's have "A little less talk and alot more action".

What about you are you good at talking the talk, but not good at walking the walk? Let's try today to let our actions do the talking. Let's stop telling and start showing. Let's stop singing it and start bringing it.

I was wondering how long it would take for you to quote the great TOBY KEITH!!

I had a reality check in this area last weekend. When we went out to downtown, this talking guy(me) went silent. It was extremely hard for me to talk with people this way. It was out of my element. I am used to sharing the gospel in an intimate setting and it is not always the way God would have me to share. I guess in this instance I need to start walking the walk!!
Good Word Pastor

As long as we don't start quoting ALL of Toby Keith's lyrics, and numerous other country songs, I think we'll be in good shape.
Getting back to this blog's subject, it's akin to all of those trash talkers during Tuesday night's volleyball tournament. Everyone talked a good game, but could they bring it to the table when it came down to it? NO! My Lifegroup ROCKS!! Okay - I know that I shouldn't rub it in but I just couldn't help myself. I'm done now.....
Seriously though, I'm pretty good myself at talking a good game and making excuses when I fail to live up to my own expectations, while giving others less understanding than I give myself. The struggle is to first acknowledge the areas where I'm missing the mark (which means swallowing a healthy dose of pride), then take the necessary steps to make sure I'm inline with the "smack" I've been talking.
Another great blog to help me see, and hopefully correct, the spiritual blemishes in my life, Padre.
