Trusting God

I love the verse in Proverbs 3:5 that says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." We've probably all heard or even quoted that scripture before, but do we really trust God with all of our hearts? It's tough sometimes to trust. It's so easy to try to take control, or try to figure things out for ourselves sometimes. All of us have experiences in life. We have seen and done things, so it is easy sometimes to lean on our own understanding, what we have seen or done or heard before, but God challenges us to not lean on what we know, but to lean on Him. I love the way this verse reads in the Living Bible. Verses 3-4 say "If you want favor with both God and man and a reputation for good judgement and common sense, then trust the Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself. In everything you do put God first and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success." Favor, success, and common sense all come from trusting in God not in ourselves. There are times when it seems we know what is best, but it is God who always knows best. We only see a fraction of the whole, but He sees the big picture. He sees all and knows all. If we trust in Him, He will lead us because He is always working for our good.
How can we learn to trust God more in our lives? Leave a comment of how you have been learning to trust God.

Boy, these posts sure have been rough lately as I take a good, long look in the mirror. My wife will be the first to tell you that sometimes my common sense goes flying right out the window when I make a decision.
Over the past couple of years I've really struggled with wanting to take the reigns over any given situation or circumstance, and looking back it's all too clear that the times I trusted in God lead to positive results, although sometimes the results weren't noticeable right away. Those times where I trusted in MY wisdom typically ended in either failure, heartache or something negative due to my inability to see every facet of the situation.
As with anything in this life, spiritual or physical, it takes steady practice, practice, practice to get in the habit of doing something; this includes trusting in Him to take us through any situation or circumstance.
We can simply take a look at the blogs from the past couple of weeks to help us as we trust in Him (seek Him in our decisions; detach ourselves from the temporal; stay committed to the race & finish strong; stop complaining; start trusting).
Excellent material as usual, Padre!

Well I will have to say that I am not good at expressing my thoughts. The more I read the more thoughts come to mind.

This is a tough one for me. It took me so long to trust in god. I use to think it was a waste of my time, but as I got closer and closer to him it became easier. It is so hard to get off track and just trust in myself instead of him. I have made it a point in my daily life to just say, "God here it is you deal with it, it is out of my hands." I know it is easier said then done but it has gotten easier for me everyday.

This is just one of those situations where I have to do it without thinking, type of thing. So like I said I guess trusting in god is just like a daily routine for me. I go through obsticles, races and trust issues throughout the day and I have god right with me all the way.
