The Proof of Love

The proof that we love God is in whether or not we obey Him. The Bible says in I John 5:3 (LB) "Loving God means doing what He tells us to do" It's really pretty simple, if we love, then we will obey, if we don't obey, then we don't really love, or at least we love something else more. That is usually the biggest problem. We don't want to obey because we really want something else more. Maybe that's why John goes on to say in verse 21 "keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts." Is there anything that has taken God's place in your heart? Is there anything that might be keeping you from fully obeying God's commands? If so what are you doing about it? How can you make sure that you are keeping God number one in your life?
